Thankfully, you seem to have lost big time this week. Perhaps the narcissistic, jingoistic aims of American military and foreign policy will now be changed. Perhaps also a Democratic presidency will now be more likely in 2028. Then perhaps the U.S. Supreme Court will be cleared of corrupt justices who have ruled for the enforcement of racist voting restrictions, environment-destroying corporations, economic policies favorable to big business which hurt small businesses, police and criminal justice procedures which unfairly incarcerate people of color who are not guilty of committing crimes, and the predatory prerogatives currently enjoyed by the filthy rich. (Did you know that in 2009 the Rethuglican-appointed "justices" of the U.S. Supreme Court under Chief "justice" John Roberts ruled that wrongly-convicted prisoners do not have the right to DNA testing that might exonerate them? To call these wretched children of dogs "justices" amounts to a rape of the English language!)
Anyway, in 2027 Democrats will control both houses of Congress and a majority of state governorships. Hopefully they will deliver on the promise of a just and equitable nation working to clean up the mess which it has made within itself due to the unscrupulous, greedy, and pig-headed efforts of a certain group of people who over the last 45 years sought to make themselves great at the expense of everyone else on earth. The Democrats have a huge mess to clean up. Part of that mess will consist of dismantling the structures of racism and inequality which the American right wing and the Rethuglican party have built. Another part of that mess will consist of sweeping the machinery of corruption out of the government of this nation. Yet another part will consist of forcing the wealthiest Americans - pigs such as Rupert Murdoch, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk, to name but three - to start paying real taxes. And let's not forget the task of bringing the perpetrators of 45 years of miscarriage of justice to face the penalties they deserve for their injustices. Then there will be the task of restoring peaceful relations with nations whom the United States has attacked with military force without just cause. Reparations are due to Somalia, Nigeria, Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran, among others. Hopefully in the process of becoming a just and wisely governed nation that behaves decently toward others, the U.S. will begin slowly to rebuild its now mostly destroyed stock of soft power.
Meantime, please remember what I wrote in 2021, namely, that those of us who have been the targets of historical and ongoing oppression must still devote ourselves to organizing for our collective liberation from oppression. We must work to ensure that pieces of garbage like Trump and misanthropic groups of people like the Rethuglican Party are never again allowed to gain political power. Now is no time to go to sleep.
One other note: Israel also recently had an election. It appears that Benjamin Netanyahu and his party have lost. Perhaps peace will now come to the Mideast - or at least, it won't be so rabidly opposed.
